In the early years of its operation, “Principal Chan Free Tutorial Centre” offered free tutorial service to underprivileged students in the absence of regular subsidy from the Government, Community Chest or charitable organizations. Its operation was thus quite unstable.

Demand for this service was huge. Though there were already hundreds of voluntary tutors, the pair-up percentage was affected by a number of factors such as the subject, location and availability of the duo, and more than two-third of the students were still queuing up for service. To shorten their waiting time and render timely service, TRaiNX sponsored an annual amount of HK$250K to the Centre through the “TRaiNX Free Tutorial Scheme” whereby the Centre could hire part-time teachers to enhance the pair-up percentage.
